Moment Resisting Connection with Curved Endplates: Behaviour Study

چکیده

This article provides a behaviour analysis of moment resisting joints with curved endplates. is new type connection that can be used for joining steel beams to the circular hollow section (CHS) columns by means bolts. Some researchers apply Eurocode model without considering differences in calculation schemes and assumptions, such as using general an equivalent T-stub tension. Consequently, many existing studies are somewhat misleading, thus there need further research. Apart from absence analytical methods devoted predicting initial stiffness strength T-stub, other technical difficulties were encountered, gaps between endplate column, well pre-loading force In previous studies, endplates manufactured rolling flat plates precise curvature which resulted firm contact. contrast, this study, standard CHS tube, led significant gaps. Meanwhile, terms preloading force, it was found affected resistance joint. paper discusses problems associated ongoing researches presents experimental tests two connections. The obtained results parametric finite element (FEA) determine effect bolts on rotational indicate plated connections exceedingly complex key factor, therefore, should controlled.
